A day after the U.S. forces attacked tanker Settebello and killed three Indian seafarers, another vessel, MV Jalveer, was attacked under similar circumstances near Oman on Thursday (June 11, 2026). This is the third such incident in four days. Jalveer is a Guinea-Bissau-flagged asphalt tanker. Reports said there are 20 Indian seafarers onboard Jalveer. “We have learnt of an incident involving a vessel off Shinas port of Oman, earlier today [June 11, 2026]. We are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the local authorities for further details,” the Indian Embassy in Oman wrote on X. Three Indian seafarers onboard the Palau-flagged MT Settebello, initially reported missing after the U.S. military strike on the commercial vessel off the Omani coast, are now confirmed dead, Union Shipping Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said on Thursday (June 11, 2026) after bodies were located and identified. “It is deeply unfortunate to learn of the tragic incident aboard the Palau-flagged MT Settebello,” Mr. Sonowal said in a social media post. The Supreme Court will hear on Friday (June 12, 2026) a plea filed by Congress leader Meenakshi Natarajan challenging the rejection of her nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha election in Madhya Pradesh. A Bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and A.S. Chandurkar agreed to take up the matter following an oral request by senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi. The Bench, however, declined to grant any interim relief preventing the declaration of the election result, observing that courts should ordinarily not intervene once the electoral process has commenced. Calcutta High Court directed Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary Abhishek Banerjee to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the Bidhan Sabha signature scam probe on Thursday (June 11, 2026) at 6 p.m The High Court also granted a three-week interim protection to Mr. Banerjee, directing that the CID cannot take any coercive action as long as he cooperates with the investigation. A 43-year-old man with encephalitis symptoms is undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Kozhikode, Kerala, even as authorities are awaiting the laboratory results of his body fluid samples sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, for Nipah infection. The patient is from Feroke in Kozhikode. The preliminary test for Nipah virus infection at the MCH returned positive, officials said on Thursday (June 11, 2026). A primary guest teacher at Government Middle School, Rainkpura, Rohtak, has been suspended for participating in the Cockroach Janta Party protest at Jantar Mantar on June 6 against exam paper leaks for an alleged violation of government employees’ conduct rules.
