KARACHI – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that banks and financial institutions across the country will remain closed on July 1 due to a bank holiday. According to the SBP notification, all banks will remain closed for public dealings on Wednesday, July 1, while customer transactions will remain suspended. The central bank stated that development finance institutions and microfinance banks will also observe the holiday. However, bank employees will continue to report to their offices as usual for official duties. Public banking services and transactions will resume after the holiday. The banks across Pakistan also observed two public holidays last week on June 25 and 26 on account of Ashura.
