ISLAMABAD – The utility allowance for employees of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has been increased by 100 percent, according to an official notification. The decision, approved by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, has been formally notified, with the revised rates taking effect from July 1, 2026. Under the revised structure, the utility allowance for employees in Grades 1 to 6 has been increased from Rs6,000 to Rs12,000. For Grades 7 to 10, the allowance has been raised from Rs8,000 to Rs16,000. For mid-level staff, the allowance for Grades 11 to 15 has been increased from Rs10,000 to Rs20,000, while Grade 16 officers will now receive Rs24,000 instead of Rs12,000. Similarly, the utility allowance for Grade 17 officers has been doubled from Rs15,000 to Rs30,000, and for Grade 18 officers from Rs18,000 to Rs36,000. For senior officers in Grade 19, the allowance has been revised from Rs21,000 to Rs42,000, while Grade 20 officers will now receive Rs48,000 instead of Rs24,000. The highest category, Grades 21 and above, will see their allowance increased from Rs30,000 to Rs60,000. According to the notification, the utility allowance covers expenses related to electricity and gas consumption. The additional financial burden will be met through the approved budget for the financial year 2026–27.
