LAHORE – The Punjab Literacy and Non-Formal Education Department has decided to extend summer vacations for non-formal educational institutions across the province until June 30. According to the notification issued by the department, educational activities at these institutions will resume from July 1. Officials said the decision to extend the holidays was taken in view of Muharram arrangements and prevailing weather conditions. Earlier, summer vacations had been announced until June 15; however, the duration has now been extended under the new directives. More than 16,000 non-formal schools are operating across Punjab under the Literacy and Non-Formal Education Department. Last month, the Punjab Government announced three-month summer vacations for all public and private schools from May 22 to August 23, 2026. Regular academic activities across the province are scheduled to resume on Monday, August 24. Meanwhile, the School Education Department has allowed schools to organize optional summer camps for students from June 1 to June 30. The camps will only be conducted indoors, four days a week from Monday to Thursday, between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Schools have also been instructed not to charge any additional fees for these activities.
