ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has vowed to make an attempt to form government in Gilgit-Baltistan as his party led with nine seats, according to unofficial results, as results of General Assembly elections pour in. In a post on social media platform X, he wrote: “Gilgit-Baltistan mein teeron ki barish. The Pakistan Peoples Party is emerging as the single largest party and we will be attempting to form government. I am grateful to the people for their trust and congratulations to Jiyalas on their victory”. The counting of votes continued following polling for the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections, with unofficial and preliminary results indicating that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has emerged as the leading party so far. Voting took place on Sunday across the region, with voters arriving at polling stations from the morning and forming long queues to cast their ballots. Polling remained underway without interruption until 5:00 p.m. Unofficial Results of GB Elections 2026 According to unofficial and non-final results available from 18 of the 24 constituencies, the PPP has secured nine seats, while independent candidates have won five seats. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has captured three seats and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) has won one seat. The PPP claimed victories in constituencies GBA-1, GBA-4, GBA-5, GBA-7, GBA-9, GBA-10, GBA-11, GBA-12 and GBA-19. PML-N won GBA-18, GBA-20 and GBA-22, while MWM secured GBA-8. Independent candidates were successful in GBA-3, GBA-6, GBA-21, GBA-23 and GBA-24. Among the declared results, PPP candidate Amjad Hussain won GBA-1 Gilgit-1 with 10,594 votes, defeating PML-N’s Muhammad Shafiquddin, who received 6,312 votes. In GBA-3 Gilgit-3, independent candidate Syed Sohail Abbas secured victory with 7,877 votes, narrowly ahead of PPP’s Aftab Haider Advocate, who polled 7,361 votes.
