ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad Police have announced traffic plan and closure of several roads as part of security measures due to processions on 9th of Muharram. Police said the central procession of 9 Muharram al-Haram will depart from Imambargah Itehad-e-Asna Ashri in G-6/2 at 1:00 PM. Diversions will be implemented from 7:00 am until the conclusion of the procession at the following locations. The procession will proceed along G-6 Service Road, turn right from Saddar Road onto Street No. 33, then left onto Street No. 40, left onto Municipal Road, Melody Chowk, Shuhada Chowk, from Aabpara Police Station to Poly Clinic, via Luqman Hakim Road, and conclude at Imambargah in G-6/2. Islamabad Roads Udpate During the procession, Fazal Haq Road from Khayaban-e-Khaldunia Chowk to China Chowk will remain closed to traffic in both directions. Municipal Road from Lal Masjid to Shuhada Chowk GPO Chowk will remain closed to traffic in both directions. Luqman Hakim Road from Poly Clinic to Iqbal Hall will remain completely closed. Alternative Routes Police asked citizens to use Jinnah Avenue from Khayaban-e-Khaldunia Chowk to China Chowk. They can also use Jinnah Avenue, Suhrawardi Road, Margalla Road. Police urged people to use Aabpara Suhrawardi Road, adding that alternative route Shahid Millat Road and Jinnah Avenue can also be used. Citizens are requested to use alternative routes during the procession. Citizens participating in the procession should park their vehicles and motorcycles in the designated parking areas.
