RAWALPINDI – The district administration has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi and restricted all forms of public gatherings around Adiala Jail and other sensitive areas in view of law and order concerns. An official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Office said that the restrictions have been enforced to maintain peace and prevent any possible security disturbances in the city. Under the order, all types of public meetings, rallies, sit-ins, protests, and processions have been strictly banned in and around Adiala Jail, the Red Zone, and other designated sensitive installations. The notification further states that the carrying of weapons, sticks, stones, petrol bombs, and any kind of explosive materials has also been prohibited during the period of restrictions. Authorities have also barred any attempt to remove police barricades or block or disrupt traffic flow in the affected areas. The administration warned that strict legal action will be taken against any violation of the imposed directives. Officials said the decision was taken as a preventive measure to ensure public safety and to avoid any situation that could disturb law and order in the district. Section 144 will remain in force until May 19, 2026, after which the situation will be reviewed in light of prevailing security conditions. The district administration emphasized that the move is aimed at maintaining stability and ensuring uninterrupted public order in sensitive zones of Rawalpindi. Security arrangements have also been tightened in and around key locations, with law enforcement agencies instructed to remain on high alert during the enforcement period. The local authorities have asked the public to cooperate with the administration and avoid engaging in any activity that could lead to unrest or legal action during the enforcement of the restrictions.
