KARACHI – A suspected drug dealer, Anmol, also known as ‘Pinky,’ was produced in a Karachi court on Saturday, where she alleged mistreatment and claimed she was pressured to implicate others in the case. Anmol told court that she was arrested in Lahore and brought to Karachi in a police van. She claimed that she had been abducted for 20 days. She alleged that she was being falsely implicated in drug cases, and she was pressured to name certain individuals under duress. Her lawyer stated that she was supposed to be produced in court on May 15, but multiple delays had occurred. During the hearing, the judge assured her of safety and asked about her well-being. The accused continued her statement, claiming that 20 to 25 charges are being filed against her. She alleged she was pressured to confess and threatened that her family would be harmed if she didn’t comply. She added that she was being forced to “implicate someone from Bani Gala” and described being brought in a van on the first day, saying the location of her arrest was not her home. The court ordered the production of previous orders from the Judicial Magistrate and for reconsideration. Police requested an extension for further investigation in a murder case. The investigation officer confirmed that new cases had been registered and drugs were recovered based on Anmol’s identification. The court noted that this was the first time Anmol had been sent to jail in three separate cases, emphasizing the long period during which she had evaded capture. Later, the court reserved verdict on a plea filed by police seeking an increase in her physical remand.
