ISLAMABAD – Security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa foiled two attempted cross-border infiltrations along Pakistan–Afghanistan border on 28–29 April 2026, ISPR said Thursday. In a statement, military media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said Pakistani security forces successfully thwarted two separate infiltration attempts between 28–29 April 2026 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the elimination of 13 armed militants. Security personnel detected suspicious movement of a group attempting to cross the border. Swift and precise action by troops led to a fierce engagement, in which eight militants were neutralised on the spot. In a second encounter in North Waziristan District, another infiltration attempt was intercepted. A heavy exchange of fire followed, leaving five additional militants dead. Security officials stated that these repeated attempts underscore continuing challenges along the border and raised concerns over what they described as insufficient border control mechanisms on the Afghan side. They reiterated that such cross-border activity continues to pose a serious security threat. After engagements, clearance and sanitisation operations have been launched in both areas to ensure no further threats remain. Authorities confirmed that counterterrorism operations under the national framework “Azm-e Istehkam” will continue at full pace as part of an ongoing campaign to eliminate militancy and strengthen border security across the region.
