LAHORE – Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Tuesday Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir played an unforgettable role for peace in the world. He made the remarks during his visit to Jamaat-e-Islami’s Mansoora headquarters where he held important meeting with JI Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman. During the meeting, detailed exchange of views on the country’s overall political, economic, and law and order situation Discussions were also made on the region’s current situation following the Iran-US rapprochement. Both leaders described the Iran-US rapprochement as a welcome development for regional stability and peace. Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, commended Pakistan’s sincere role in the Iran-US rapprochement. The interior minister took Amir Jamaat-e-Islami into confidence regarding Iran-US negotiations and the government’s actions in this regard. During the meeting, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman also raised the issue of Pakistanis stranded in Somalia and demanded from the interior minister that the government should play its effective diplomatic role for the immediate and safe recovery of the besieged Pakistanis. Detailed discussion also took place in the meeting regarding the improvement of the country’s economy and providing relief to the people. Hafiz Naeem said Pakistan’s historic role regarding Iran-US rapprochement will always be remembered. He added that the path to sustainable peace has been paved throughout the entire region. The credit for eliminating tensions in the region goes to Pakistan, Naqvi said. “We are prostrate before Allah Almighty that He has accepted our humble efforts,” he concluded.
