On October 1, 1949, the People’s Republic of China was born following the end of a long civil war. In return, China has stood by Pakistan through every trial—from the 1965 war to Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsus. Their friendship has always been unconditional; China has never interfered in Pakistan’s internal matters. In fact, China has done more than any other country to help Pakistan become self-reliant in both defense and the economy.
