LAHORE – Youm-e-Ashura is being observed today across Pakistan with deep religious devotion and respect to commemorate the great sacrifice of the martyrs of Karbala. Mourning processions have begun in major cities and towns across the country, including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Muzaffarabad, Peshawar and Quetta. Special religious gatherings and mourning assemblies are being held to remember the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain. Religious scholars are addressing these gatherings, highlighting the message of Karbala and the significance of Imam Hussain’s unwavering stand for truth and justice. Lahore Processions In Lahore, the central procession featuring the symbolic Zuljanah started from Nisar Haveli with thousands of mourners in attendance. The procession is following its traditional route, passing through Mohalla Shian, where the Azan-e-Ali Akbar was performed at the local mosque, before concluding at Karbala Gamay Shah. Security personnel continue to monitor the procession throughout its route. Karachi Procession In Karachi, the main Ashura procession is scheduled to begin from Nishtar Park following the central mourning gathering held at the same venue. Peshawar is witnessing its first Ashura procession from Imambargah Agha Syed Ali Raza Shah, followed by 12 additional mourning processions that will conclude at their designated destinations. Quetta In Quetta, the main procession will depart from Imambargah Hussaini Sadat, Syedabad Alamdar Road, at 8:30 a.m. and continue until after Maghrib prayers. The procession includes 35 groups carrying symbolic Zuljanah, standards and tazias. Along the route, volunteers have arranged food, drinking water, refreshments and first-aid camps for participants.
