These Vehicles Are Dead for 2026

Sedan and sports car fans had better have a seat before glancing at this list. Some were neither critical nor sales darlings, while at least one is a current—and multiple times—10Best winner. Though not all are sedans, many are. It's a body style that continues to fade away as American consumers opt for high-riding SUVs over the typically superior dynamics of squatty cars. Let's not dwell on the bad. Instead, let's celebrate the years we had with these models as their time on the market comes to a close. If any of these vehicles happen to be on your short list of new car options, you may want to pull the trigger and pick one up sooner rather than later. Who knows, you may even be able to score a good deal on one of these models as dealers look to clear old 2025-model-year inventory to make room for new 2026s. Acura plans to forgo offering a true luxury sedan for the first time since its inception, come 2026. The Acura TLX calls the 2025 model year its last, marking the end of the three-box sedan at Acura. Though the brand's sedan lineup was already beginning to dwindle with the discontinuation of the RLX (the successor to the RL, which succeeded the Legend before it), the departure of the TLX marks a more definitive ending for Acura sedans. The TLX was preceded by the TL and Vigor, the former of which was once one of Acura’s bestselling models. The Integra four-door liftback remains in the lineup, but otherwise, Acura’s showroom is now packed full of SUVs.—Joey Capparella The A4 has been a mainstay of the Audi lineup since the 1990s, but the nameplate is disappearing—or at least taking a hiatus—as the new A5 takes its place in the German automaker's lineup. Audi previously offered the A4 as a four-door sedan and the A5 as a two-door coupe and convertible or a four-door liftback. The automaker is streamlining things, though, and the A5 is now strictly available as a four-door liftback. Unfortunately, this also spells the end of the road for the A4 Allroad station wagon. Audi’s initial reasoning for dropping the A4 nameplate was due to plans to revise its vehicle naming scheme, reserving even-numbered alphanumerics for electric models and odd numbers for gas-powered models. But the company has since reneged on this strategy, leaving us confused as to whether we should expect an A4 e-tron in the near future or whether the nameplate could be used for a new-generation gas model. Either way, there is no A4 for 2026, so we’re considering it dead for the time being.—JC Before it took on the Q8 e-tron nomenclature, Audi's battery-electric SUV simply went by e-tron. Though its name changed, the basics of this Audi EV remained largely the same. Now, after more than half a decade on the market, the Q8 e-tron bids adieu. Audi is shuttering the Belgium factory that builds the Q8 e-tron in both wagon and liftback (or Sportback in Audi parlance) body styles, and it seemingly has no immediate plans to replace the model.—JC The BMW X4 liftback first hit the scene as a 2015 model, with the performance-oriented X4 M joining the party in the model's second generation. It's possible BMW is temporarily hitting pause on the X4, given its wagon-bodied equivalent, the X3, was recently redesigned. Then again, there's always the chance this is simply the end of the road for the X4 line.—Eric Stafford The Cadillac XT4's run comes to an end after seven model years. Production of the small SUV actually ended earlier in the year, which gave Caddy just enough time to push a few 2025-model-year examples out of the factory before the line shut down. General Motors' Fairfax plant in Kansas City, Kansas, which built the XT4, will now transition to building the revived 2027 Chevrolet Bolt. It will also supplement Equinox production starting in mid-2027. The pricier, battery-electric Optiq, meanwhile, serves as an indirect replacement to the gas-powered XT4.—Caleb Miller Cadillac pulls the plug on the XT6 with the close of the 2025 model year. The unibody three-row Caddy lasted for just six model years on the market and served as a bridge between the smaller XT5 and the gargantuan Escalade. Informally replacing the XT6 is the far more expensive battery-electric Vistiq.—CM With the passing of the Malibu following the 2025 model year, Chevrolet no longer sells a single sedan in the United States. Save for the two-seat Corvette, the bow-tie brand's lineup is practically devoid of cars, with the automaker instead placing its focus on trucks and SUVs, as well as, to some extent, vans.—CM We're not sure if the Dodge Hornet was here for a good time, but it certainly did not stick around for a long time. Though Dodge initially paused Hornet production in response to the Trump Administration's tariffs, it has since decided to nix the model from its lineup entirely.
