2027 Lucid Gravity

The Lucid Air brought the world an electric luxury sedan like no other, and the 2027 Lucid Gravity expands that vision into the realm of three-row electric SUVs. This is Lucid’s second model, built to meet the needs of more drivers than its excellent but esoteric first effort. The Gravity was introduced for 2026 and showcases unique design, impressive charging, and thrilling performance. As it turns out, Lucid's second effort is just as amazing and frustrating as its first. The Gravity clearly shares DNA with the Air, but it establishes its own identity in design and character. It exhibits the sedan’s impressive refinement and composure, pairing a comfortable ride with sharp handling thanks to its standard air suspension. Acceleration is excellent regardless of which powertrain is equipped. In Grand Touring form, the Gravity is among the bestSUVs to drive. It’s fantastically quick and agile, turning in eagerly and even permitting controllable slides in a way that makes it feel more like a sports car than family hauler. Steering accuracy, handling balance, braking power, and grip all impress, but optional larger wheels introduce some ride harshness. Cabin space is generous for the class, and the front trunk adds useful cargo room. Forward visibility is also a strong point thanks to the dazzling canopy windshield. World-class charging capability exceeds that of EV rivals. But software bugs and some puzzling design choices get in the way of daily usability. As impressive as the Gravity is from behind the wheel, it still seems like it needs more polish to become comprehensively great—but Lucid is working on that by introducing software updates and more standard equipment for 2027. Every Gravity uses a dual-motor AWD electric powertrain. In standard Touring specification, the SUV has 560 hp. That allows a 0–60-mph launch of 3.8 seconds. The Gravity Grand Touring packs a massive 828 hp and 909 lb-ft of torque. That cuts the 0–60-mph sprint down to just 3.2 seconds. The Gravity’s handling is excellent, with heavy, precise steering and superb chassis poise. Choosing the optional Dynamic Handling package enhances those attributes, adding rear-wheel steering and swapping the standard single-chamber air suspension for triple-chamber hardware. Gravity models equipped with the Dynamic Handling package can be distinguished by their Titanium-painted brake calipers, in lieu of the standard black. Lucid uses a Sapphire badge to designate its highest-performance cars—well, at least the one it’s created so far. The Air Sapphire is incredible, packing a 1,234-hp triple-motor powertrain and stupefying chassis tuning. Don’t be surprised if a Lucid Gravity Sapphire arrives in a few years with similar power and performance. Lucid equips the Gravity Touring with an 89-kWh battery pack. The Gravity Touring is EPA-rated at 337 miles of range when rolling on standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels; in MotorTrend’s Road-Trip Range test, the SUV went 264 miles on a charge. The Gravity Grand Touring gets a 123-kWh battery pack. This extends EPA range to between 386 and 450 miles of range depending on configuration. A Gravity Grand Touring with 22-inch front and 23-inch rear wheels went 335 miles in MotorTrend’s Road-Trip Range test. Every Gravity recharges through a Tesla-style NACS port. The charging rate tops out at a very impressive 400 kW. In MotorTrend testing, a Gravity Touring gained 156 miles of range in the first 15 minutes after plugging in, and 225 miles after 30 minutes, with a 5–80 percent charge time of 25 minutes. A Gravity Grand Touring added 194 miles in 15 minutes and 282 miles in 30 minutes as it charged from 5–80 percent in 25 minutes.
