Lahore police inspector booked under begging charges

LAHORE – A case has been registered against a police officer of Nawab Town Police Station for allegedly demanding money from a private university student under sections related to begging. According to police, the case was registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Boota, who accused officer Danial of seeking money from the student. The FIR stated that the police official allegedly demanded payment from the student, following which an inquiry into the matter was launched. Police officials said the case has been registered under provisions related to begging, and an investigation is underway to examine all aspects of the incident. Authorities said further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Police officials maintained that the law applies equally to everyone and that any misuse of authority or illegal action by a government employee will not be tolerated.
