Lahn, who was endorsed by Turning Point Action, defeated four other challengers in his GOP primary, including Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Iowa). Feenstra had enjoyed endorsements from President Trump and retiring Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa). Sand ran uncontested on the Democratic side.
Lahn s win is at least the second time this cycle where Trump s preferred pick lost the primary. Trump-backed Brenda Wilson lost against Indiana state Sen. Greg Goode (R) last month.
