ISLAMABAD – The federal government is considering a cut in customs duties on imported raw materials, equipment, and machinery used in beauty parlours, skincare clinics, and health clubs. Officials said that under Customs Notification No. 1151 and 1152, duty rates may be reduced by 2 to 5 percent. Under the proposed changes, customs duty on imported makeup raw materials used in beauty parlours could be reduced from 44 percent to 40 percent. A similar reduction is also being considered for other raw materials used in salons. Reports further indicated that duty on imported sunscreen and sunblock products used in beauty services may also be lowered from 44 percent to 40 percent, while hair care-related raw materials could see the same revised rate. For men’s grooming salons, including shaving creams, aftershave lotions, and related products, a reduction from 40 percent to 35 percent is being proposed. Similarly, duty on face wash, soaps, and other related cosmetic raw materials used in beauty services may also be reduced from 40 percent to 35 percent. Skincare creams and lotions used for facial treatments are also expected to fall under the same revised duty structure. In addition, machinery, equipment, and spare parts imported for gyms, slimming centers, and health clubs may see customs duties reduced from 40 percent to 35 percent. Officials said the proposed adjustments aim to rationalize import duties across the beauty and wellness sector, though final approval has not yet been confirmed.
