Nissan's entry-level vehicle is the Sentra compact sedan. This longstanding nameplate entered a new generation for 2026, gaining fresh design and upgraded features while using the same fundamental hardware as before. Every 2027 Sentra uses a 2.0-liter I-4 engine producing 149 hp and 146 lb-ft of torque. The engine is connected to a CVT automatic and FWD; AWD is not available. In MotorTrend testing, the Sentra posted 0–60-mph acceleration of 8.3 seconds. Fuel economy for the Sentra S and SV is rated at 30/38 mpg city/highway. The SR and SL trims get 29/36 mpg. The Sentra has a 12.4-gallon fuel tank. Driving range is about 409 miles for the S and SV models, and 397 miles for the SR and SL. Unlike many of its rivals, the Sentra doesn’t offer a hybrid engine—for now. Nissan is working to expand availability of its e-Power hybrid system, starting with the Rogue SUV. Rear automatic emergency braking, active lane keeping assist, enhanced adaptive cruise control, and driver responsiveness monitoring are optional or included depending on trim. Although the Sentra has ample front legroom for a compact sedan, its rivals offer more back-seat and cargo space. In its recent redesign, the Sentra gained a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen as standard equipment. It has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with a Google virtual assistant. The Versa S has a 7.0-inch digital gauge display, while the SV, SR, and SL get a 12.3-inch all-digital cluster. All models have three USB ports, and the SR and SL have a wireless charging pad. The base S model has a four-speaker audio system. The SV and SR get a six-speaker setup. The SL model upgrades to a Bose eight-speaker premium system. A 360-degree camera is standard on the range-topping Versa SL and optional on the SR. Those models also gain Wi-Fi hotspot capability. Above the base S trim, the Sentra has a digital climate control panel. Pricing for the 2027 Sentra starts at about $24,000 for the S trim. On this base model, exterior features include 16-inch steel wheels with hubcaps, LED headlights, black side mirrors, and chrome window trim. Inside, the Versa S has cloth upholstery, a urethane steering wheel, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, 7.0-inch gauge display, and physical climate control buttons.
