Imran Khan foreign funding case hearing adjourned till May 21

ISLAMABAD – A banking court in Islamabad on Monday resumed hearing in the foreign funding case registered against PTI founder Imran Khan and several other accused individuals, while adjourning further proceedings until May 21. Islamabad Banking Court Special Prosecutor Waseeq Malik appeared before the court on behalf of the prosecution, while PTI lawyer Fatahullah Burki represented the accused persons. During the proceedings, the court reviewed the status of the investigation record and discussed matters related to the scrutiny of the challan submitted in the case. The court observed that the scrutiny process of the challan was still underway and required further examination before any substantial proceedings could move forward. The judge remarked that the court would continue reviewing the case record in the next hearing scheduled for May 21. The court also stated that decisions on the pre-arrest bail applications filed by co-accused Siraj Ahmad and Faisal Qazi would be announced on the next date of hearing. Both accused had approached the court seeking protective relief in connection with the case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency. During the previous hearing, the court had reserved its verdict on the interim bail pleas of the accused after hearing arguments from both sides. The prosecution had opposed the bail requests, while defence counsel argued that the accused were cooperating with the investigation and should be granted legal protection. The FIA had registered the foreign funding case against Imran Khan and other party figures over allegations related to prohibited funding and financial irregularities. The matter has remained under legal proceedings for several months and continues to draw political and legal attention due to its significance for the country’s political landscape. The hearing was later adjourned till May 21 for further proceedings and announcement of the reserved decisions.
